Thursday, May 10, 2007, Sarah fainted at school. She was taken to a local ER & then transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital with a diagnosis of restrictive cardiomyopathy.

July 5, 2007 Sarah received her new heart. However, during the transplant she suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed.

Shouldn’t we be doing more?

Shouldn’t we be doing more? This question is asked at the end of this story on Foxnews.com. The answer the Nolte family gives is, YES!

Sarah’s heart condition, restrictive Cardiomyopathy, may have been detected several months before she fainted at school if she would have had an echocardiogram during her sports physical. Her heart problems may have been treatable by medications and/or her heart transplant could have been prolonged many years if we had only known BEFORE she actually fainted & went into heart failure may 10th, 2007.

Of course, the USA has a much better medical system then Europe; however, they are further ahead of us if they are indeed doing echocardiograms during all sports physicals.

Many students have died during their sports activities because of undetected heart problems. We are very blessed to have Sarah with us today. Her doctors have told us that she should not have made it off the track the day she fainted. Most children with Sarah’s condition would not have survived. There is NO need for this; many lives could have been saved if children & teens were given heart exams during their sports physicals. We hope this will change in the NEAR future.

This very issue is one of the things we have been working on. We are contacting local medical services & other organizations to help us as we grow “Team Sarah” into an organization so we can promote healthy hearts in children & teens. We would like to see echocardiograms done during sports physicals. This year, Verrado did sports physicals that promoted healthy hearts. We hope more schools will fallow their example. We hope we can play a roll in how sports physicals are done. We pledge to be a voice in the West Valley to promote healthy hearts in teens & children.

In everything we do we will give God all the glory & put everything in His hands. We ALL know we are following God’s will in pursuing these ventures with “Team Sarah”. Promoting healthy hearts in children & teens are a major factor in our future endeavors.

We are so excited & look forward to our 2nd annual “Second Chance” car show to help promote Healthy hearts in children & teens. We hope you are too!

Ther you have it, our answer is - YES & WE WILL BE DOING MORE!
