Thursday, May 10, 2007, Sarah fainted at school. She was taken to a local ER & then transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital with a diagnosis of restrictive cardiomyopathy.

July 5, 2007 Sarah received her new heart. However, during the transplant she suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed.

Live life anyway...

Auntie's picture

No matter what life hands you, you have someone greater than you fighting right along side of you. No matter how bad your life may seem, Jesus is on your side.

Job, the man of God, lost everything including all of his children. He stood in the face of adversity, stood his ground & continue to trust God. It took years of pain & suffering before he saw any hope for his future. His wife & friends doubted but Job knew the God he trusted & Job stood firm on what he knew.

Wisdom Teeth

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. Today Larry and I took Sarah to get all four of her wisdom teeth pulled. Our insurance authorized for her to be put a sleep for this procedure. Her doctor told us that he was surprised that the insurance okayed it, because they never do. The patient usually ends up paying for that part of the service if they dont want the trauma of having all four teeth removed any way they need to come out. So we were very grateful for that. It only took about an hour or so before she was ready to go home.

Biopsy Update

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. I wanted to let you all know that we finally got Sarah's test results. Her vascular test came back unreadable, so I don't know what the doctors will want us to do since we had to go to Tucson for that test. Her  biopsy came back  showing no signs of heart rejection, which is great news. Now they will look at the medications that she take, because those can also cause the symptoms she has been having.

Prayer request

Rex Smith, from Cornerstone Christian Center, had a heart transplant surgery on August 17th. He was recovering well until this week. His chest started feeling heavy & it was hard for him to breathe.  He is in ICU now and doctors found infectious fluid around the heart. They are doing procedures to remove fluid.  He needs our prayers.

Trip To Tucson

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. I wanted to let you all know that Sarah has not been feeling well for a few days now,so we took her to see the cardiac Dr's here in Phoenix. They decided that it would be best if we took Sarah to Tucson to get a Biopsy, and Vascular test done. They set up those test for this Monday early. So instead of traveling in the dark to get to Tucson on time, we left on Sunday afternoon. After a small prayer for us to get there safely,we were on our way.

Prayer Request

Mom and Dad's picture

Please pray for our cousin Lorisa she is about 26 or 27 weeks pregnant. She was taken to West Valley Hospital not feeling good, and from there she was air vaced to Good Samaritan Hospital, with what they think was a pulmanary embolism. The doctors are taking every precaution for her and the baby. Please keep her and the baby in your thoughts and prayers, that they be safe, and for Lorisa to not give birth just yet. As more news starts coming in I will keep updating.
Thank You,
Larry and Margaret Nolte

Vocal Cord Update

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. I wanted to start off by saying that Larry and I are both over the flu. Today is the first day I haven't felt sick, and so far Sarah hasn't gotten sick with not so much as a cold. Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers. Larry ended up taking Sarah to see the ENT doctor for her follow up, and he said that air is still excaping from Sarah's vocal cord, but other than that everything else looks fine. Sarah voice still sounds the same barely above a whisper.

Update

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. I just wanted to let you all know, that we had to pospone Sarah's doctor appointment with the E.N.T to next week. Larry and I both have the flu, and it's just been rough trying to stay away from Sarah. She can't afford to get sick with any flu. I ask you all to please pray that we get over this flu very soon, without getting Sarah sick. I will let you all know very soon how things are prgressing with our flu's, and of course Sarah's voice.
Thank you For Reading,

Voice Update

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. Sarah started talking yesterday, she still sound like she is trying to get over a sore throat so her voice sounds very scratchy. Even with her voice the way it is now I can hear her better than before the surgery. Sarah will be seeing the E.N.T doctor this Friday, lets pray that her vocal cord is still filled with medication that thickened it up. If this surgery is a sucess she will have to go through another throat surgery to thicken up her vocal permanently. Amber is also doing better, she is up and around a lot more.

No Talking - Day Three

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. Everything seems to be going just fine today. Sarah sounds like she is trying to get over a very bad sore throat, but will see how it goes tomorrow when she starts talking. Sarah has been up and around, and looks alot better, she is no longer asking for pain medication. Amber, we think had an allergic reaction to her pain medication, but once her dad gave her some benadryl she felt better. Amber also has been up and walking today, and she also looks better today. I hope this family has seen the last of outpatient surgeries for a while.

No Talking - Day Two

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. Sorry I am so late in updating, my internet was down almost all day today.  Well day two of no talking has proven to be a much easier day for us. Sarah's shakiness is not bad at all, and she is able to feed herself. She is now getting out of bed on her own, but we are still walking next to her, because she still is taking pain medication, and we don't want to chance her falling.  When Sarah clears her throat it sounds like she has a real bad sore throat, so I'm very curios to hear what her voice sounds like.

No talking - Day One

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. Well the no talking has proven to be a little more difficult than I thought. Sarah's heart medications make her hands tremble, plus I think that with her pain medication it makes Sarah's hands shake even more. so it  makes it a little bit harder to read her notes  Sarah is also on a clear liquid diet until tomorrow, so I have been hand feeding her soup in bed. So far she has been a real trooper, and her only complaint was drawing a sad face on a piece of paper when I told she couldn't have cookies or a bagel until tomorrow.

Surgery Update

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. Sarah is finally home after a long day at the hospital. The doctor said the surgery went fine, the only thing is that Sarah is on voice rest for three days. That means absolutley no talking, or whispering for three days, It will be hard, but Sarah has to do it because if she doesn't keep quite the foam medication that was injected into her vocal cord can come out. Until then we won't know what Sarah's voice sounds like. Right now Sarah is sleeping, before we came home the nurse gave her something for pain.

Camp Corazon

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi everybody. A small update on our Sarah. She was accepted to go to Camp Corazon for four days. Camp Corazon is on Catalina Island in California. Her dad I weren't sure if we were going to let her go ( only because she has never been away from us) and sleeping at relatives houses doesn't count. She would be taking this trip with other kids that have heart conditions, along with camp counsels, nurses, and cardiac doctors. She is most definitely in good hand, but that doesn't stop us from worrying.
